siamo tutti noi
The intent of «siamo tutti noi» was to create a meeting plattform for the visitors outside the exhibition window and the inner life of this window. The view into the rooms is intransparent because of an opaque coat.
Just a few little scraped out spots permit a view to the inside - it's a wordless encounter.
Although the persons have been selected under certain criteria, their identity is unknown.. The visitors are invited to «get an idea of the other person».

ALISA
The video shows traces in and around Paris from removed, illegal settlements and / or previously occupied locations, namely images not having found entrance in the public media, but rather the moments after, the remains of the mostly violent evictions. The story is formed from what is not visible, from traces, void spaces and silence.

al-Qahira
This video traces different impressions from eleven peripherally located boroughs of Cairo.
The video shows traces from inside buildings and apartments as well from streets, places and yards. It is a walk through new built settlements, gated communities, informal areas and older quarters dating back to the Socialist Period, making the multi-layered society and their different forms of representation visible. The first view enters the interior of private homes, focusing on specific details in close-up images. The second view tracks the walk through the streets, documenting cars, people and restaurants from a waist-high perspective, shot with a moving handheld camera. The last view points on the facades of the buildings, following the structure of the different levels and their design.
All 3 video channels are keyed in specific colors and slightly blurred. We never know where we are exactly, what area we have entered, which flat and which social environment; even when we think we are somewhere familiar, we remain uncertain.

transverse city
Cairo in miniature. Video loops of different length show small observations within the urban life of Cairo by day and nigh which seem to be noticed en passant. The short loops and the frequent repetition do not really represent the recorded
reality in an objective way. They draw the attention of the viewers to small details, movements, and moments; they emphasize the unspectacular and avoid stereotyped views as well as they admit the hidden, he unseen and the unnoticed.

beautiful home
The six screens show a glimpse into private living spaces; through the window the camera observes the areas in which the tenants and owners withdraw, some of whom have spend part of their day in public.
4 budgerigars sit in their acrylic glass boxes, enclosed, motionless, bored and absolutely see through....
12 figures reduced to their basic body form present themselves in stereotypical poses and eloquent gestures. What they allude to – their home, their private sphere – is not (no longer) visible.

Opposite these pictures of waiting, there are 4 landscape pictures: a view of the sea, of the railway tracks, a glimpse of the sky and drops of water, which collect on the lower edge of a steel bar. The monitors are positioned in 3 rows on the wall. The videos all show the same façade, which was filmed periodically over a year. The alignment of the monitors and the position of the videos below one another are roughly equivalent to the three-dimensional situation in reality. tanken tanken tanken / TAKE AWAY
As part of the project «tanken tanken tanken», «TAKE AWAY» shows both kiosks being taken apart right down to the floor plan. Thus reducing the petrol station, as a landmark in the landscape, to its striking roofs. The interior of the buildings and their floor plans remain on the ground as clearly visible traces.
Various, reconstructed and put into service elements, marked with the words «TAKE AWAY», suggest from a distance an operational petrol
station. (All the projects undertaken with M Rüegg)
